We took off from Sweden at around 22.00 in the night in one of Qatar's flights. After about 6 hours we reached Doha, Qatar where we changed flight for another 6 hours to Nairobi.
We arrived in Nairobi at 14.30 local time. While leaving the plane we casually heard in the speakers that "by the way, plastic bags are illegal in Kenya". That's great when all other countries want you to pack handluggage items in 1L plastic bags 👍 We had booked a hotel in advance only to have a place to crash on for the first days, so an ordered taxi was waiting for us at the airport.
We bought two sim-cards and loaded them with data for internet usage and went through the somewhat interesting Nairobi traffic. Every roundabout required 10-15 min of waiting along with police orchestration. That did not matter too much however as we instead managed to have a very nice and interesting conversation with our taxi driver.
The hotel was more like a bed and breakfast, but that's fine. We ordered delivery with the help of some hotel managers, prepared the room against intrusion and mosquitoes and went to bed.
