1. Heading for Nairobi

Updated: Jan 9, 2020

After many months of planning there are now only hours left before stepping on the flight towards Kenya. We are both excited and nervous for what's to come, but it will be great to eat new food, meet new people and tackle new challenges 💪

Following below is just a quick recap of the procedure taken to make this Minor Field Study possible:

  1. Reached out to our Swedish supervisor (September 2018)

  2. Discussed potential projects (October-November 2018)

  3. Wrote a project application for Minor Field Studies at Uppsala University and the Swedish University for Agricultural Sciences (February 2019)

  4. Got denied financing due to our project being within the frames of another application deadline (March 2019)

  5. Made a new application to UU and SLU again (October/November 2019)

  6. Got approved in both applications but were only allowed to chose one (December 2019)

  7. - Booked the flight tickets to Nairobi, Kenya - Ordered a 2 night hotel in Nairobi for initial stay + hotel taxi pickup from airport - Registered for a Kenyan E-Visa (should take 3 days but took 15 days)

  8. Went to the mandatory Härnösand course hosted by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, Sida (December 2019)

  9. Got approved Visa, bought necessities and packed the bags (January 2020)
